$100K damage tally in Menlo Park blaze
A fire at a Menlo Park home left more than $100,000 in damage in its wake Tuesday, according to the fire department.Firefighters were dispatched to 1311 Hobart St. just after 5 p.m. and found a fire in the single-family residence.
The blaze was controlled and remained in the kitchen where it began but smoke and heat damage affected the rest of the home, said officials. There were no reported injuries to either residents or firefighters.
Investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental when a purse was left on top of a stove that had been left on. The estimated damage to the structure was $75,000 and the damage to the contents of the building was estimated at $30,000.
