Meeting on Palo Alto Unified measure tonight
Palo Alto schools Superintendent Kevin Skelly will host an informational meeting tonight on Measure A, which would send $378 million to the district if voters approve it in June.Skelly and Measure A campaign co-chair Jon Foster will make a presentation on the bond measure and take questions at a 7 p.m. meeting in the Duveneck Elementary School multipurpose room, 705 Alester Ave.
If approved by 55 percent of voters, the measure would raise funds to help the school district repair aging facilities at all 19 school sites, replace outdated technology and add new classrooms to help accommodate rising enrollment.
Opponents of the measure, led by Palo Alto resident Wayne Martin and San Jose resident Allen Rice, contend that the bond measure language isn't clear enough about how the money will be used.
The Duveneck PTA and Duveneck/St. Francis Neighborhood Association are sponsoring tonight's meeting. The session is open to all who live in the boundaries of the school district.
